Refurbishing a Valet Box
Toms River, NJ | 2021
Pieces of a valet box made for my dad in the 1990s by his brother-in-law, who varnished yachts in Jersey Shore boatyards. After several moves, the box had fallen apart.
A small, decorative metal piece fell out of the box lid. To replace this piece, I created an inlay with small pieces of maple.
Small pieces had fallen off from the corners of the box. I shaped new pieces and eventually stained them to match the original finish.
I removed the old glue from the small inserts in order to piece them back together.
